Dr. Jimmy DeNicco is an award-winning educator, economist, and consultant dedicated to making the complexities of the global economy accessible, engaging, and actionable. Currently serving as the Director of the Principles of Economics Program, the Director of Undergraduate Studies for Economics, and an Associate Teaching Professor at Rice University, Jimmy has spent almost two decades refining a "personalized scale" approach to education—mentoring thousands of students in the classroom while reaching over tens of thousands of global learners through digital platforms.

A devotee of Texas-style barbecue, Jimmy spends his home time preparing everything from briskets and ribs to bacon-wrapped jalapeño cream cheese poppers. His love for food is so integrated into his work that you’ll find recipes and personal home photos of his culinary creations throughout his textbook, A Story of Economics. Jimmy lives in Houston with his wife, Mary; their daughters, Sofia and Lucy; their son, Vinny; their cat, Han Solo; and their dogs, Tino and Trinket.
